I'm Sandy. I am currently Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Technology Services for the Grande Prairie Public School District in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
This blog is a place for me to share my thoughts on teaching and learning and to reflect on and share things that I learn or otherwise find interesting. It is fair, I think, to give you the heads up that I find lots of things interesting.
The original reason for this blog was to cut back on consistently emailing things to the people I work with. I see lots worth sharing, but did not want my name associated with spam. This creation has turned into much more than that, and it is an important reflective tool for me, contributing to my own professional growth over time as well.
The emphasis will be on improving student learning through improving our systems and processes. Our students face a complex and quickly changing future, and we need to seriously reflect on the changes we need to make now to send them into that future as graduates ready to succeed.
There will be lots to talk about, I hope you find value in reading. If you read something that evokes a reaction in you, I hope you will take the time to share your thoughts! Author/researcher Michael Fullan says that change starts with a conversation. We could start that change here....
